The great part of the Federated Social Web is that you can pick your own instance (server) to host your account. These instances communicate with each other and enforce their own “moderation” rules. This is the pro and the con of the fediverse.
Join the wrong instance that does not align with your beliefs, and they will censor you. If you want to communicate with people on another instance, but the admins of your instance have blocked those instances, then you will be blocked.
Choosing and instance that supports freedom, free-speech and is anti-censorship is key to taking advantage of what the fediverse has to offer over the corporate web. Here are a list of freedom respecting instances:
